مولانا مودودی رحمۃ اللّٰہ کیا تھے؟

سید ابوالاعلی مودودی کون تھے؟ انھیں بچھڑے اب تقریباً 45 برس ہوتے ہیں۔ ضرورت محسوس ہوتی ہے کہ اتنا عرصہ بیت جانے کے بعد تو ان کے مقام اور خدمات کو درست تناظر میں دیکھ لیا جائے۔ یہ سوشل میڈیا کا زمانہ ہے۔ سیاسی اور مذہبی طبقات اس فورم پر اپنے بزرگوں اور قائدین کی عظمت کے گن گاتے ہیں، بالکل اسی طرح اب مولانا مودودی کے لیے القابات استعمال کیے جانے لگے ہیں جیسے امام العصر، مجدد اسلام اور فاتح تختہ دار وغیرہ۔ اس قسم کے القابات پڑھ کر ان کے لیے بھی خطیب اسلام، واعظ شعلہ بیاں قسم کے بزرگ کا تاثر پیدا ہوتا ہے۔

کیا واقعی مولانا مودودی ایسے تھے اورکیا وہ اپنے بارے میں وہ اسی قسم کا تاثر پیدا کرنا چاہتے تھے؟ مولانا مودودی جن دنوں اپنے ناقدین کی تنقید کا بدترین نشانہ تھے، کچھ لوگوں کی طرف سے کہا گیا کہ وہ مجدد یا مہدی بننا چاہتے ہیں جس پر انھوں نے جواب دیا کہ وہ کوئی بھی دعویٰ کیے بغیر اس دنیا سے کوچ کر جائیں گے۔

مولانا کا یہی مزاج تھا۔ یہی وجہ رہی ہوگی کہ اس عہد میں ان کے رفقا اور جماعت کی قیادت نے بھی انھیں القابات دینے سے گریز کیا۔ سید مودودی جیسی شخصیات کے بارے میں اس طرز عمل سے گریز اس لیے بھی ضروری ہے کہ وہ اپنے نقطہ نظر اور سیاسی کردار کی وجہ عمومی دینی شخصیات سے مختلف ہوتی ہیں لہٰذا انھیں جب اس قسم کے القابات دیے جاتے ہیں تو ان کی رائے سے اختلاف رکھنے والوں کے ہاں ضد پیدا ہو تی ہے اورماحول خراب ہوتا ہے۔ اسی طرح زیر بحث شخصیت بھی متنازع ہوتی ہے اور سب سے بڑھ کر یہ اندازہ ہوتا ہے کہ مداح جس شخصیت پر فدا ہوئے جاتے ہیں، وہ خود اس کے مقام اور مرتبے سے ہی واقف نہیں ہیں۔ تاریخ میں ایسی بے شمار شخصیات موجود رہی ہیں جنھیں کوئی لقب نہیں دیا گیا لیکن اس کے باوجود ان کا نام اور کام زندہ ہے۔ یہ حقیقت ہے کہ بعض اوقات القابات اور ٹائٹل کسی شخص اور اس کی خدمات سے پیچھے رہ جاتے ہیں۔

سوال یہ ہے کہ مولانا مودودی کیا تھے اور ان کا مرتبہ کیا ہے؟ یہ سوال اتنا سادہ نہیں ہے۔ مولانا مودودی کو سمجھنے کے لیے سرسید احمد خان اور ان کے سب سے بڑے نظریاتی حریف علامہ شبلی نعمانی کے درمیان اختلاف کو سمجھنا ضروری ہے۔ اس کے بعد یہ جاننا ضروری ہے کہ برصغیر کے ان دو طاقت ور نظریاتی دھاروں کے ہوتے ہوئے اقبال نے ایک عظیم مقام کیسے حاصل کیا؟

سرسید بہت بڑی شخصیت ہیں جنھوں نے مسلمانوں کو تعلیم کی طرف راغب کیا اور مذہب اور عقل کے ربط باہمی سمجھنے کی کوشش کی۔ ان کی تعبیرات ٹھنڈ ے پیٹوں برداشت نہیں کی گئیں۔ یہ فطری تھا۔ ان کے ردعمل میں علامہ شبلی نعمانی سامنے آئے۔۔ ان کا نقطہ نظر مختصر ترین الفاظ میں یہ تھا کہ دنیا کی ترقی یہی ہے جو ہمیں بتائی جا رہی ہے لیکن مسلمان کی ترقی یہ ہے کہ وہ صحابہ کرام کے عہد میں صرف معنوی انداز میں نہیں بلکہ عملی اعتبار سے بھی سانس لے۔ گویا یہ قدیم اور جدید کا فرق تھا۔

مسلم برصغیر میں یہ نہایت نازک دور تھا جس میں مسلمان اس مباحثے میں پھنس کر رہ گئے۔ اقبال نے مسلم بر صغیر کو اس نظریاتی کشمکش سے نکالا۔ انھوں نے سوال اٹھایا کہ ذہنی اعتبار سے صحابہ کے عہد میں سانس لینا تو عین سعادت ہے لیکن دور جدید کے چیلنجز اور علمی سوالوں کا جواب کیا ہے؟ پھر انھوں نے جو حکمت عملی اختیار کی وہ حضور اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی اس حدیث کے عین مطابق تھی جس میں فرمایا ہے کہ حکمت مومن کا گم شدہ سرمایہ ہے، یہ جہاں سے ملے اسے حاصل کر لیا جائے۔ ان کا نظریہ یہ تھا جدید ترین تعلیم حاصل کی جائے حتی کہ فقہ اسلامی کی تشکیل جدید بھی کی جائے لیکن اپنی اصل کو نہ چھوڑا جائے۔

قیام پاکستان کا معجزہ ہو یا بیسویں صدی کی جدید اسلامی تحریکیں، یہ سب اسی نظریے کا نتیجہ ہیں۔ ان کی فکر کا ایک اور اہم نکتہ ان کا خطبہ الہٰ آباد ہے جس میں انھوں نے بتایا کہ امپریلزم یعنی ملوکیت سے نجات میں نہ صرف مسلمانوں بلکہ پوری نسل انسانی کی بقا ہے۔ خطبہ الہ آباد کے بعد تو اقبال کو زیادہ وقت نہ ملا لیکن ان کے بعد بھی یہ فکر آگے بڑھتی رہی۔یہ کام مولانا مودودی نے کیا۔ مولانا مودودی اقبال کے جونیئر ہم عصر تھے جن کا دور قیام پاکستان کے بعد شروع ہوتاہے۔

ان کے اپنے مکتبہ فکر کے مطابق تفہیم القرآن مولانا مودودی کا سب سے بڑا کارنامہ ہے جس میں انھوں نے اللہ کی آخری کتاب کو جدید زبان میں اپنے عہد کے لوگوں کے سامنے پیش کیا اور نہ صرف پاکستان، نہ صرف برصغیر بلکہ عالمی سطح پر نظریاتی منظر نامہ ہی بدل دیا۔ اسی طرح اسلام کی مبادیات کے بارے میں دینیات اور خطبات نامی کتابیں لکھ کر عام پڑھے لکھے آدمی کی ضرورت پوری کی ۔ کچھ ایسا معاملہ ہی ان کے دیگر تحریری اثاثے کا ہے لیکن ان کا سب سے بڑا کارنامہ ان کی کتاب ’خلافت و ملوکیت‘ ہے۔

اس کتاب میں انھوں نے مسلم امہ کے سب سے بڑے مسئلے کو موضوع بنایا اور بتایا کہ یہ جو ایک عام خیال ہے کہ مسلمان دنیا کو کوئی مستحکم سیاسی نظام دینے میں ناکام رہے ہیں، اس کا سبب کیا ہے اور ایسی کیا حکمت عملی ہے جسے اختیار کر کے اس کمزوری پر قابو پایا جا سکتا ہے۔ یہ کتنا بڑا کام تھا؟ اس سلسلے میں پروفیسر فتح محمد ملک کا تبصرہ بہت وقیع اور توجہ طلب ہے۔ وہ کہتے ہیں کہ علامہ اقبال نے خطبہ الہٰ آباد میں ملوکیت یا امپریلزم کے جس استبداد کی نشان دہی کی تھی، مولانا مودودی نے ‘ خلافت و ملوکیت ‘ لکھ کر اسی کام کو آگے بڑھایا۔ یہاں یہ امر ضرور ملحوظ رکھنا چاہیے کہ یہ بات پروفیسر فتح محمد ملک صاحب کہہ رہے ہیں جو نظریاتی اعتبار سے ہمیشہ اُن کے متوازی دھڑے میں شامل رہے ہیں۔

کیا مولانا مودودی ملوکیت کے موضوع پر نظری کام کر کے مطمئن ہو گئے جیسا عام طور پر دانشوروں اور مفکروں کا طریقہ ہوتا ہے؟ ایسا ہرگز نہیں ہوا۔ وہ اپنے وقت کے طاغوت کے خلاف خم ٹھونک کر کھڑے ہو گئے۔ انھوں نے اپنے عہد میں ہر آمریت کوعملی طور پر چیلنج کیا اور ہمیشہ جمہوری جدوجہد میں شریک رہے۔ یہاں تک کہ سزائے موت کی پروا بھی نہ کی۔ تاریخ یہ حقیقت ہمیشہ یاد رکھے گی کہ مارشل لا کی فوجی عدالت نے انھیں سزائے موت سنائی تھی۔ انھوں نے سب سے بڑی سزا قبول کر لی لیکن جبر کے سامنے سر نگوں نہیں ہوئے۔

نظریاتی میدان میں جہاں ان کی ایک عظیم خدمت اسلام کے سیاسی نظام کی طرف راہ نمائی ہے تو وہیں انھوں نے اسلام کے نظریہ جنگ و جدل کے ضمن میں بھی وہ بات کہی جس کی سمجھ دنیا کو آج تقریباً پون صدی کے بعد آ رہی ہے۔ ان کی خدمات کے اس پہلو کو بھی تاریخی تسلسل میں دیکھنا ضروری ہے۔ 1857 کی جنگ آزادی میں تحریک مجاہدین جیسے واقعات کے بارے میں اقبال کی رائے یہ تھی کہ یہ اپنی قوت زائل کرنے کے مترادف ہے جس سے منزل مزید دور ہو جانے کا اندیشہ ہے۔ یہی سبب تھا کہ اقبال نے مسلمانوں کو سیاسی راستہ اختیار کرنے کا مشورہ دیا۔قیام پاکستان کے بعدکشمیر میں جنگ کا پہلا مرحلہ 1948 میں آیا۔ مولانا مودودی نے اس وقت کہا کہ اگر ریاست اس جنگ کو تسلیم کرتی ہے تو یہ جہاد ہے ورنہ نہیں۔ جہاد افغانستان نامی واقعہ بھی ان کی زندگی میں ہی شروع ہو گیا تھا۔ ان کے اپنے حلقے کے بہت سے لوگ اس جنگ میں نجی یا تنظیمی حیثیت سے شریک ہونا چاہتے تھے لیکن مولانا مودودی نے اسے کبھی درست قرار نہ دیا۔ پروفیسر سلیم منصور خالد نے اس کی بیشتر تفصیلات اپنی کتاب ’تصریحات‘ میں لکھ دی ہیں۔ مولانا مودودی کا ذہن جنگ و جدل کے معاملے میں بھی ریاست کے نظام کی طرح بالکل واضح تھا۔ وہ کسی پرائیویٹ شخص یا گروہ کو ہتھیار اٹھانے کا حق نہیں دیتے تھے۔ ان کا یہ موقف بھی آج بالکل درست ثابت ہو گیا کہ پرائیویٹ جہاد دراصل فساد کا دروازہ کھولنے والی بات ہے۔

Parallel Universe

In a small town, there was a very smart man named Christopher. He was a physicist, which means he studied how tiny things like atoms and energy worked. Christopher loved to read books, write notes, and do big experiments in his lab. He spent hours every day working with strange machines, blinking lights, and wires that buzzed.

One evening, Christopher jumped out of his chair.

"I did it!" he shouted.

He looked at the screen on his computer and smiled. He had found a way to change how tiny particles behaved. These particles were smaller than dust—so small that no one could see them. But Christopher had found a way to move them to different places and even change their shape.

He picked up his phone and called his best friend, Emily. She was also a scientist and worked in a different lab.

"Emily, you need to come to the lab now!" he said.

"Why? What happened?" Emily asked.

"I discovered something big. Really big!"

A few minutes later, Emily arrived at the lab. Her eyes were wide.

"Tell me," she said. "What did you find?"

Christopher smiled. "I found a way to move particles. Not just move them—but send them to other states. I think... I think we can reach other worlds."

Emily frowned. "Christopher, that sounds very risky."

"But exciting too, right?" he said.

She crossed her arms. "Maybe. But you must be careful. One small mistake could cause something really bad."

"I’ll be careful," he said. "I promise."

That night, Christopher could not sleep. His mind kept spinning with ideas. What if he really had found a way to visit a new world? What would it look like? Would there be people? Would the air be safe to breathe?

The next morning, Christopher went back to the lab. He set up a big machine in the center of the room. Wires were everywhere. The machine made soft humming sounds, like it was alive.

He looked at the button. Just one push.

"Here we go," he whispered, and pressed the button.

Suddenly, the room filled with light. Bright blue and green colors flashed around him. A strange wind blew through the lab, even though the windows were closed. Then, right in front of him, a round glowing door appeared. It floated in the air.

Christopher stared. "Is that... a door to another world?"

He stepped closer. On the other side, he saw trees, mountains, and a river. It looked like Earth, but the sky was purple, and the trees had silver leaves. The animals walking near the water looked soft and shiny, like made from glass.

Without thinking, he stepped through the door.

The new world was quiet. A cool breeze touched his face. Birds flew above him, but they had four wings instead of two. The ground was soft, like a sponge. It was beautiful.

But soon, things got strange.

The sky turned yellow. Then green. The ground under his feet started to shake. A rock nearby disappeared into thin air. A flower grew fast and then turned into dust.

Christopher’s heart began to race.

"What’s happening?" he said aloud.

Then he felt it—his body started to feel heavy, like something was pulling him apart. He looked up and saw cracks in the sky, like broken glass.

"This world is not stable," he said. "It’s falling apart!"

He ran back through the glowing door and landed hard in his lab.

Emily was already there, looking scared.

"Christopher! Are you okay?"

"No!" he gasped. "The worlds are breaking! I think I opened something I shouldn’t have."

They looked at the machine. It was sparking. Smoke came from one corner. The screen was flashing numbers quickly.

Emily grabbed a wrench. "We need to fix this. Now!"

Christopher nodded. "If we don’t, both worlds might crash into each other. Everything could be destroyed!"

Together, they worked fast. Emily handed him tools, and Christopher adjusted wires. Outside the lab window, the sky began to turn red. Strange shadows moved across the streets. Some had glowing eyes and long arms. They were not from Earth.

"What are those?" Emily asked.

"Creatures from the other world," Christopher said. "They’re slipping into our world."

The machine beeped loudly. The screen blinked. Sparks flew.

"We don’t have much time," he said.

Suddenly, one of the creatures appeared in the lab. It had long arms and no face. Its body looked like smoke.

Emily froze. "What do we do?"

Christopher picked up a metal pole. "Keep it back while I finish the machine!"

Emily stood in front of the creature, waving the pole. "Go away!" she shouted.

The creature paused, then slowly backed away. Its body melted into the floor.

Christopher yelled, "I got it!"

He pressed the button again. The glowing door started to close. The light faded, and the machine stopped shaking. The creatures began to vanish, one by one. The sky outside turned back to blue.

It was quiet again.

Emily dropped the pole and sat on the floor. "That was too close."

Christopher sat beside her. "I know. I should’ve listened to you."

Emily looked at him. "You’re a great scientist, Christopher. But you must remember—just because we can do something doesn’t mean we should."

He nodded. "You’re right. I was too excited. I didn’t think about the danger."

She smiled a little. "Next time, let’s test things slowly."

"Agreed," he said.

The two friends sat in silence for a while. Then Christopher stood up.

"I’m going to fix the lab and lock this machine away," he said. "It’s too powerful."

Emily nodded. "Good idea."

From that day on, Christopher changed. He still loved science and learning, but he was more careful. He always tested things slowly and talked to Emily before trying something big.

He never forgot the day he saw another world. He also never forgot the danger. He knew that science was powerful, but it needed to be used with care.

He also started writing about what happened. He wanted other scientists to learn from his mistake.

One day, while cleaning the lab, Emily said, "Do you think we’ll ever go back to that world?"

Christopher shook his head. "Not unless we know it’s safe."

She smiled. "Good answer."

He smiled back. "And if I ever forget, you’ll remind me."

"Always," she said.

And so, Christopher and Emily kept working together. They made many great discoveries—but only after making sure they were safe. And Christopher never again opened doors he couldn’t close.
