Description
Al-Bidāyah waʾn-Nihāyah (“The Beginning and the End”) by Ibn Kathīr is one of the most famous and comprehensive works of Islamic history. Written by the renowned 14th-century scholar, this monumental book begins with the creation of the heavens and the earth, the stories of the prophets, and the history of earlier nations, then moves into the life of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in detail. It continues with the events of Islamic history after the Prophet’s passing, covering the era of the Rightly Guided Caliphs, the Umayyad and Abbasid periods, and significant events up to Ibn Kathīr’s own time. Alongside historical narration, Ibn Kathīr often includes commentary, lessons, and references to Qur’anic verses and authentic hadith.
