Season 2, Episode 7 : Supernatural Monster Hunter ( Afro ) “The Smoke in the Sky”
Neo-Eko’s skyline glimmered under the pale light of dawn. Holograms danced in the air. Hover-trams glided silently through the streets. To the people above, the world looked unchanged. But beneath their feet, something ancient had stirred.
Afro stood on the roof of a solar dome, watching the sunrise. Nya hovered beside him on a floating platform made of pure kinetic energy.
“We have to warn the city,” she said, scanning the skyline with glowing eyes. “The Devourer was just a scout.”
Afro’s voice was cold. “There are more of them.”
He pointed at a distant skyscraper — one with a golden emblem of the old world carved into its side. “That’s where the next gate is hidden. It’s inside the Council Tower.”
Nya frowned. “You mean the people who fund the city’s defenses?”
“They’re not what they seem,” Afro replied. “The council’s been protecting more than the city. They’ve been protecting the monsters.”
Before they could move, the skies shifted. Smoke formed from nothing — not the kind that came from fire, but thick, magical smoke, black with red embers swirling inside. The people below began to panic.
From the clouds descended creatures with metal wings and masked faces — the Sky Wraiths.
Afro leapt from the dome without hesitation, his blades glinting in the light. Nya followed, spinning in midair and conjuring a storm shield to protect the civilians below.
The first Wraith slammed into Afro midair. He spun, stabbed upward, and landed on a moving hover-tram, dragging the dying beast with him.
Another dove from the sky. Nya’s blast caught it mid-dive, disintegrating it into ashes. The smoke thickened, choking the city’s tech. Drones crashed. Lights failed.
More Wraiths came, each one faster and more coordinated than the last. “They’re being controlled,” Nya shouted. “Someone is directing them!”
Afro sprinted across collapsing rooftops, chasing the source of the signal. He reached the edge of the tower and saw it — a cloaked figure atop the Council Tower, wearing a mask shaped like a screaming face. The Signal Master.
Afro hurled his blade like lightning. The mask cracked, revealing a human face beneath — a council member.
Betrayal stung deeper than any wound.
The Signal Master smiled. “You were never supposed to survive the first gate.”
Afro growled. “You should’ve made sure I didn’t.”
