Season 3, Episode 9 : Supernatural Monster Hunter ( Afro ) “The Herald of the Devourer”
Neo-Eko never slept, but tonight it screamed.
Buildings trembled. Skyscrapers flickered like candle flames caught in the wind. The streets were flooded with ghost data — echoes of the dead trapped in the city\'s circuits. Something ancient had crossed the Rift. The sigil in the sky now bled smoke.
Afro stood in the center of Freedom Square, gripping his blades. Around him, panicked citizens fled as digital winds howled like banshees. His pendant burned hot against his chest. “It’s here.”
Suddenly, the earth cracked.
From beneath the square rose a figure cloaked in fire and bone. Its face was hidden behind a mask crafted from obsidian shards. The Herald of the Devourer had arrived — tall, skeletal, with tendrils of living shadow that twisted around its limbs. Its voice was pure dread: “Bloodborn.”
Afro charged without hesitation.
Their clash tore through the city like a storm. Afro’s blades sang, slicing through shadow limbs, sparks flying from his jacket as he spun and ducked. The Herald countered with unholy power — flinging buildings with a gesture, distorting space with a whisper.
In the heart of chaos, Zara arrived, her body glowing with upgraded tech-ancestral fusion. “Back off, demon.” She launched a bolt of ancestral energy that ripped through a wall of shadows, buying Afro time.
But the Herald was too fast.
It struck Afro square in the chest, sending him flying through a holo-billboard. Blood sprayed. Afro coughed, staggered up. The sigil in the sky pulsed with his heartbeat. The city was watching.
The Herald stalked forward. “You are the seal. I am the key.”
“No,” Afro growled, wiping blood from his mouth. “I’m the end of you.”
He activated the hunter’s tooth. It flared — then shattered.
In its place, a burst of pure ancestral energy surrounded him. Spirits of the past — hunters, kings, priestesses — appeared in a glowing circle, chanting in Igbo. Afro’s body transformed. His blades fused into one massive ancestral greatsword.
The final battle had begun.
He clashed with the Herald again, this time glowing with spirit-fire. Every strike cracked the air like thunder. Sparks flew from metal and shadow, ghostly chants ringing louder with each blow. The Herald shrieked as Afro\'s blade sliced through its chest.
Then silence.
Afro stood over the fading creature. “Tell your master… I’m coming.”
